Cornerback Dre Bly ousted

This morning I mentioned the possibility of a third round of cuts on the way, that could include Dre Bly. Well, that third round of cuts is here, and they include Dre Bly. And only Dre Bly. With this move the Broncos will gather together another few million dollars of cap space to spend this offseason. That's the good news. The bad news is that they have just lost, in my eyes, one half of one of the best cornerback tandems in the league(When they have a supporting cast).

Bly was aquired almost exactly two years ago via trade with the Detroit Lions that sent Bly to Denver in return for former first round pick, OT George Foster, RB Tatum Bell(Who resigned with the Broncos this past season after not panning out too well in Detroit), and a 5th round draft pick.

Bly spent the last two seasons as a Bronco, leading the team in interceptions both years with five in 2007, and two in 2008. He also recorded 137 tackles in that two year span.

With this release, and all signs pointing to Karl Paymah being left to hit the open market. The Broncos are left at the cornerback position with Champ Bailey, Jack Williams(Rookie last season), Josh Bell(Undrafted rookie last season), and Rashod Moulton(Second year practice squad player). All of a sudden there is a definite need at the cornerback positon, that definitely needs to be addressed.
